About the Provider
Our professional engineering and management services span the entire lifecycle of systems from conceptualization and design, prototype, and production; through test and evaluation, fielding, and operations; to end-of-life, demilitarization, and disposal. MRC has decades of experience supporting Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport combat systems including full lifecycle support for all torpedoes in the Navy inventory, launcher systems, computer systems, communication systems, and laboratories.
Concept Development/Analysis/Test Planning and Execution
MRC has extensive experience providing concept development and analyses for Sensors and SONAR systems, torpedo systems, unmanned systems, and platform, missile, and launcher system upgrades in support of NUWC Division Keyport and NUWC Division Newport Codes 15, 45 and 85. MRC supports Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling, system design, mechanical analyses, calculation packages, drawing development, and system integration for conceptual design projects. MRC has conducted numerous integration and compatibility studies for U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) submarines. Their personnel also possess 35 years of experience in conducting tradeoff and systems analysis of undersea vehicle designs and in-water performance, developing, and flowing down program requirements, and developing Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for undersea vehicle deployment in support of the Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC). MRC provides services to support payload development and integration and the maturation and transition of new technology into programs of record. MRC has personnel on-staff with expertise in designing and executing modeling and simulation studies to support future systems operations and analyzing operational employment impacts relative to current threat platforms and tactics. Their engineers are involved in test planning and executing multiple evaluation and demonstration events, both at-sea and at land-based test facilities and providing post-test data collection and analysis of new weapon system models in support of UUV systems, torpedo in-water exercises, and missile weapon system flight and simulator tests. MRC has experience developing, building, and supporting Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems and using them to record test data in both laboratory and shipboard settings. MRC collects and compiles test data during and following torpedo in-water and simulated exercises and perform detailed analyses using Undersea Warfare (USW) doctrine and key performance parameters of system performance. They have experience performing AoA type analyses and digital simulation analyses and are involved in various projects including MRUUV and various small, medium, and large UUV programs, SSNx, VA multiple acoustic analyses, ONR Innovative Naval Prototype, Task Force Ocean, and variable depth towed sonar.
MRC provides concept development and analyses for Sensors and SONAR systems, torpedo systems, unmanned systems, and platform, missile, and launcher system upgrades in support of NUWC Division Keyport and NUWC Division Newport Codes 15, 45, and 85. We provide services to support payload development and integration and the maturation and transition of new technology into programs of record. Our engineers have participated in concept development and requirements analyses for Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (XLUUV) future payloads and capabilities, Snakehead payload/energy options, future SSN (X) payloads, including the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS), and small and medium Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs).
MRC has demonstrated experience planning, executing, and analyzing demonstrations and functional tests in support of submarine and payload system integration programs. Our engineers have been involved in the test planning and execution of multiple evaluation and demonstration events, both at-sea and at land-based test facilities and providing post-test data collection, reduction, and analysis of new weapon system models in support of UUV systems, torpedo in-water exercises, and missile weapon system flight and simulator tests.
MRC frequently supports submarine grooms around the world to ensure platforms are ready to participate in structured evolutions and compatibility testing, such as Weapon Systems Accuracy Trials and at-sea exercise torpedo firings. For example, our team supported developmental testing of the APB 5+ software for the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo (HWT) using the mini-presettable vehicle test unit and a V(4) launcher in support of Code 85. Our personnel are directly involved in the TI and APB processes associated with development, testing, and release “to-the-fleet” of new operational software to increase reliability and effectiveness of exercise and warshot torpedoes. MRC personnel have also set up and executed VIRGINIA testing events in the VIRGINIA Payload Tube Facility and the Three-Inch Launcher Test Facility in support of Code 45.
MRC has experience developing, building, and supporting data acquisition systems and using them to record test data in both laboratory and shipboard settings. Our personnel collect and compile test data during and following torpedo in-water and simulated exercises and perform detailed analyses using undersea warfare doctrine and key performance parameters of system performance. Our analyses include evaluation of potential capability or performance improvements as well as their associated design implications and risks (e.g., modifications, subsystem enhancements, doctrine changes, etc.)
